Shows the operation of the variable frame reservation mechanism
Top line is total channel activity within single cell.
Activity at base-station and at three mobiles.
Three frames each of which has a frame descriptor - green.
First frame is initially idle. Mobile1 makes a reservation request - red
and is granted a transmission opportunity in the next frame
This transmission is then acknowleded by the base station in the third frame.
In the second frame mobile3 is granted a reservation using the CBR reservation mechanism. No reservation request is necessary for this transmission.
The base-station transmits two cells do mobile two in the third frame and they are acknowledged immediately.
Reservation requests for bursty sources
No reservation requests required for CBR or base-mobile transmissions.
FD format is outlined. Number of cells in each element and a map of the mobiles which are have receptions or transmissions active in each cell slot.
