Introduction

Picture of the phone

The AT&T Broadband Phone is the phone for the 21st century. With a touch screen and stylus, it presents a friendlier user interface than existing phones, as well as providing access to a range of multimedia services made possible by new broadband networks.

While talking, users can draw explanatory diagrams and maps for each other, share photographs, or browse the same location on the web. Custom services can be provided, such as internal company news, or details of local amenities. Unlike other similar devices, however, the Broadband Phone does not run any of these applications itself. It is simply an input/output device for applications running on servers elsewhere on the network, making the new phone system simple, cheap, reliable and yet completely flexible.
